“Transumando con le capre di Valerio – 2025”

Ritorno ai pascoli invernali di Duronia – 24 e 25 ottobre

Valerio Berardo ha 39 anni e nella vita ha scelto di pascolare le greggi in Molise, più precisamente a Duronia, luogo attraversato dai tratturi e dall’antica tradizione della Transumanza. Giovani come lui non ce ne sono tanti e incontrarli arricchisce l’esistenza di ognuno, perché da persone così c’è tanto da imparare.

Classe 1986, nato a Roma da genitori nati a Duronia, ha intrapreso un percorso di studi prima e lavorativo poi. Valerio, però, non ha trovato appagamento nella consuetudine del mercato lavorativo, nello stress e nella frenesia urbana. Ha scelto di ritornare nella sua terra, di rimettersi in contatto con le radici e il sapere dei padri. Così, dal 2016 Pascola le capre a Duronia, in costante contatto con la natura, parte integrante del processo economico e produttivo locale.

È intorno a questa storia forte e alla tradizione millenaria che coinvolge greggi e territorio, mettendo da sempre in movimento uomini e animali, che abbiamo pensato di riproporre un breve tratto del lungo cammino transumante di cui Valerio ci ha narrato a lungo, trasmettendoci tutta la passione di cui è animato.

Lo scopo è quello di riportare alla luce l’incommensurabile patrimonio storico-culturale che vede la fusione armonica di tradizione, uomo e natura, senza tuttavia alterare gli attuali equilibri fauno-paesaggistici. La Transumanza, infatti, ha il grande pregio nonché potere, di ripristinare naturalmente l’habitat adatto alle greggi: è grazie al transito delle stesse che si può operare una “pulizia” del sentiero tratturale privandolo delle specie erbacee infestanti, consentendo così la crescita e la diffusione di quelle piante adatte al pascolo.

Grazie alla transumanza ed alla presenza di Valerio nei pascoli di Monte Cavallerizzo, in questi quattro anni abbiamo avuto modo di testare quanto la comunione tra turismo lento e allevamento, possa dare frutti inaspettati. Molti difatti, sono stati i gruppi di visitatori che hanno potuto godere per un giorno o anche più giorni, dell’esperienza della vita del pastore, godendone privilegi e testandone le fatiche, ma che alla fine hanno rigenerato nei partecipanti quelle correlazioni uomo-natura ormai perse e che qui, in alto Molise è ancora possibile cogliere grazie a questa esperienza condivisa con la cittadinanza di Capracotta.

Grazie alla collaborazione tra la APS La Terra, che da anni organizza la manifestazione “Cammina, Molise!”, il Comune e la Pro Loco di Capracotta, il DAAA dell’UniMol, la FIPTES, saremo al fianco di Valerio nel festoso riecheggiare delle Transumanze secolari del Molise che lui – un giovane uomo, un pastore – ha deciso di restituire al territorio e alla comunità, permettendoci così di riscoprire una porzione di territorio tratturale meritevole di cure e valorizzazione per il ricco patrimonio bioculturale che essa custodisce.

INFORMAZIONI.

Indicazioni Generali:

Data la particolare natura dell’evento, completamente incentrato sugli animali e sulle loro abitudini, ogni programmazione sarà dettata tenendo conto delle loro esigenze.
Ne consegue che, partenze, soste, velocità e percorsi saranno definiti in funzione della sicurezza degli animali e del loro benessere.

Oltre al personale volontario di supporto al pastore, saranno possibili presenze giornaliere non superiori alle venti unità che dovranno essere autonome per eventuali pernotti ed autonome per il raggiungimento della partenza di tappa.
La partecipazione alla manifestazione è riservata ai soci iscritti all’Associazione APS La Terra, coloro che non sono iscritti potranno regolarizzare l’iscrizione prima della partenza della manifestazione.

Per l’intera durata della manifestazione, saranno presenti mezzi di supporto.

I pernotti saranno possibili sia in struttura ricettiva, previa autonoma prenotazione, che in tenda nello stazzo. Gli eventuali spostamenti da e per la struttura ricettiva, dovranno essere eseguiti in autonomia.

Avvertenze:

I tempi e le attvità saranno inevitabilmente gestite secondo le condizioni metereologiche.

Vista l’alta possibilità di piogge, si deve provvedere autonomamente alla propria attrezzatura di protezione dalla pioggia.

Qualora le condizioni metereologiche si dimostrino essere particolarmente avverse, la manifestazione potrebbe subire delle modifiche.

Il gregge è protetto e gestito da un elevato numero di cani pastori, è pertanto dovuta la necessaria attenzione e distanza da essi oltre che dalle capre. Eventuali cani da accompagno dovranno essere muniti di museruola e portati al guinzaglio.

Al fine di evitare spiacevoli incidenti, vista la numerosa presenza di animali di diverso tipo, è necessario mantenere un adeguato comportamento teso a non spaventare o innervosire gli stessi.

Tutte le indicazioni date dal pastore e dal gruppo di suoi collaboratori dovranno essere tenute nella necessaria considerazione.
